Auction & Dinner

Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula held its 29th Annual Auction and Dinner on Veterans Day, November 11, exceeding the goal of $300,000 for the event.
The sold-out event grossed over $304,000, and the number is still climbing. 400 guests were greeted with a salute from Club members and officials, and they started the evening with hors d’oeuvres while bidding on 250 silent auction items from the community, raising $25,000. Guests were seated in the gymnasium, beautifully transformed into a tasteful, patriotic venue by volunteers and staff where Club members sang the national anthem and presented a flag procession. Club kids presented the flags while Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless America” played, a favorite part of the night for many guests who rose to their feet. Veterans and servicemen and women were pinned and thanked for their service.
The event then kicked off with the lively Dessert Frenzy, raising nearly $8,000, and raffles. Larry and Cyndi Hueth won the Choice of Live auction item, and Mike and Staci Politika won $1,000 and donated their winnings back to the Clubs.
Ehmey Liggins gave a powerful speech, sharing her experience as a volunteer and single mother of three boys and Club members and the impact the Club and staff has had on their lives. “It's such a comfort to know that they are safe and in a place they enjoy, surrounded by people who really care about them. The staff truly believe in what they do, it’s not just their job; it's their passion, and it shows,” says Liggins.
“Bids for Kids” followed, giving guests the opportunity to donate, which they did so generously. And no Boys & Girls Club auction would be complete without a captivating live auction, which included a spontaneous song by Amanda Bacon who donated a live performance which garnered a $2,000 bid. The top selling item was the head table at next year’s event, which went for over $4,000.
